Good device, (What's this?) I got a new computer with Windows 7. Naturally, there are no RS232 ports, just USB and I have a GPS I needed to hook up. After looking around for a Windows 7 compatible DBI to USB converter and looking at various cards, I selected this one.

This fried my motherboard!!, Do not buy it. I wish I never needed a serial port. Now I don't need a serial port for the computer because SYBA's card fried my motherboard. I don't make unsubstantiated claims. I just want to save you the heartache.
Nice card, (What's this?) Vista identifies the card and installs drivers without need for the CD drivers provided. When installing this card I strongly suggest that you ... UNPLUG THE COMPUTER'S POWER CORD (a shutdown computer still has wakeup power throughout the motherboard).

Excellent!, (What's this?) Although the printed manual does not specify, there is a driver for Vista. Didn't see any for W7.

But, the Vista install went fast and perfectly. When I connected the cable to a usb port, it turned up as COM3.

This product is perfect for my high-end laptop because it does not have a DB9 serial port. But, my hobbies and my job require that I be able to connect to a serial device using DB9 connectors.
